RE: Time for an upgrade
For £63 you are getting a much better CPU though, which isn’t much considering the sum of the RAM and Motherboard with it…
What do you mean by abysmal? They aren’t too bad at 4GHz. Unless the 965 is going to be overclocked the 1055T will be much faster for only £10 more where lots of CPU power is needed instead of a strong single core. I was only suggesting because the AMD build would be a bit cheaper, but I would still stretch out for intel (all my computers are intel).
Fuck, buy the 2500k… if it is this much quicker than the 1090T it will destroy the 965.
I already suggested waiting for Bulldozer and overclocking the Q6600 earlier, maybe we should wait for his reply so he can say how much his budget is or w/e
RE: Time for an upgrade
Remember that there are more programs “optimised” for Intel processors so I wouldn’t use those comparison charts unless you’re using the programs it’s comparing. In my experience AMD processors are more stable and last longer, Intel processors of the same type are faster.
I’m guessing you’re talking about the i5 quad-core equivalent. I’d hope they’d be better considering they’re in another price bracket. It’s like saying a Nissan GTR is a better car than a Ford Focus.
There’s absolutely no reason to overclock one of these new quad core processors.
So instead of buying the CPU that is optimised, buy one that isn’t?
The only time I have ever seen a CPU die is when I took part in an overclocking competition and it died from high voltage whilst being cooled by LN2. I have never seen any other one die, AMD or intel. Not sure what you mean by stable either, considering I have never suffered from any “instability” owning intel CPUs for the past 12 years…
For gaming Intel has been faster ever since the Core architecture so I would stay with them, unless you do a lot of multitasking which a hexacore would probably be better. The i5-2500k build wouldn’t be much more expensive overall and will be much quicker than the 965.
Also why are you against overclocking? He wanted an upgrade, overclocking a Q6600 from stock to 3.6Ghz will be equivalent of an upgrade (50% rise in clock), and the G0 stepping can usually get there. It will be cheaper than buying a whole new motherboard, RAM and CPU. I have never had a problem with overclocking every CPU I have owned and my P4 Northwood 2.8GHz is still going strong.
RE: Time for an upgrade
I would wait until the next line of AMD cpus, even if you don’t get them because it will make the current Phenom II CPUs a bit cheaper.
Also the 965 isn’t THAT much faster, if you overclock then you can just bring the Q6600 to 3.4-3.6GHz and it will be much better.

Sandy Bridge is much better, especially being able to overclock to 4.5GHz or more with the unlocked multipliers.
RE: Battlefield 3 Alpha
Just got an email today saying because I had the Alpha I got invited to the early Beta (along with MoH Limited Edition players, which is pretty cool so whoever got in check your inboxes.
I already preordered the actual game though which gave me early access anyway.

RE: Requesting removal of zs_residentevil_v2
As soon as the hallway cade is set up most of the zombies leave or go afk and most of the time inside the cade there are quite a few human afk. I for one go medic and just watch TV when human because only a few people are needed as there aren’t enough zombies to break through.
RE: [ZS]Let's have more perks/buffs, and make them buyable from the crate
What about one for rifles and assault rifles. Like 10% more accurate, but palsy affects you from 80hp and you fire a little slower. So it only works well whilst on full/close to full hp.
I agree about precognition as I have never seen that much teamwork except for “attack at blah” which becomes obvious when no zombies are coming.
Also I can only see reserves being really useful in the last minute of wave 6, otherwise you will have to rely on anyone else for ammo (either by dying or giving you some)
RE: Upward crashed the server
The only reason why pharmacy and upward have the “hold on until wave 2” scenario is to let players who are still downloading the map/late joiners become humans instead of zombies.
At least, I think that’s the reason for it.
90% of anyone who hasn’t downloaded the map will die in the very first section because they do not jump and fall into the water. I was just saying it because sometimes people who get picked as zombie will ragequit because they cannot do anything and just give away points.
