Silly things you may not have noticed about hats and other items



  • Here’s something people probably didn’t know. Most hats and other items have had passive bonuses since the day they were created. I know, we said there’d be none. We lied. Here’s a list of the current bonuses.

    Terracotta Pot Hat: +5% bullet damage to anything with a glass material.
    Cleaver-in-head: +2.5% damage to zombies holding glitched human melee weapons in ZS.
    Santa Hat: Every 601.12 seconds, a person in the current game will randomly get 10 Silver if they have this hat on.
    Aviator Glasses: -10% screen brightness in areas with less than 1% brightness.
    Witch’s Hat: +1% casting speed.
    Headcrab Hat: +5% speed as a headcrab model.
    Monitor Head: +0.1 FOV.
    Plain Hat: Does nothing.
    Afro: Props with the watermelon model will occasionally disappear if you’re near them for too long.
    Lamp Shade: +2 damage against lamps.
    Watermelon Head: +1 damage against fruit.
    Cone Hat: Vehicles near you go 1% slower.
    Mask: +0.01 second delay to being identified on another person’s HUD.
    Bucket Hat: +0.01 buoyancy.
    Baseball Cap: +1% knockback damage.
    Snowman Face: occasionally will produce a single snow flake once per game.
    Barrel Head: +1% damage with explosives.
    Chef Hat: +1% damage with fire.
    Pot Hat: +5% damage resistance against fire but only if you’re ignited.
    Flaming Skull Head: +5% damage against things under 10 health.
    Light Visor: it glows in the dark.
    Mechanized Eye: Does nothing.
    Radiant Eyes: +1% resistance to trigger_hurt damage.
    Purple Eyes: Does nothing.
    Poison Eyes: +1% damage with poison and acid.
    Frosty Eyes: +1% damage with cold and water.
    Evil Eyes: +1% damage with fire against yourself.
    Sh*t Eating Grin: +1% damage resistance against antlions.
    Angelic Halo: +1% health from health chargers.
    Annoying Radio: NPC’s will target you slightly more than other players.
    Caster Hands: +1% casting recovery rate.
    Static Aura: +1% damage with electricity against things in water.
    Voice Changer: Emote cooldown -0.01 seconds.
    Super Box Head: +1% jump power.
    Baby Face: NPC’s will target you slightly less than other players.
    Cigar: +1% damage resistance against bullets. Occasionally plays a very low volume grunt when hit with rpg_rocket.
    Toy Shovel: +0.499 max prop count.
    Sheldon Mask: +2% damage reduction against the turtle prop.
    Gnome Mask: -1% movement speed while ducking. -1% damage when hit with props.
    Pumpkin Head: +1% damage against everything during Halloween.
    Perched Crow: +50% damage against crows.
    Dai-Gurren Brigade Shades: +1% damage to everything for every player not on your team within a radius of 8 units of your player entity’s center.
    Dai-Gurren Brigade Leader Shades: occasionally crashes your game after writing a file called iamsocool.txt, which is then immediately deleted.
    Zombie Blood Dye: npc_zombie will occasionally not play its moaning noises while near you.
    Mana Blood Dye: +1% damage resistance against projectile_manatranslocator. +1% mana regeneration rate.
    Rainbow Blood Dye: +0.1% damage resistance against everything.
    Holy Blood Dye: +5% damage resistance against func_move_linear.
    Midnight Blood Dye: -1% light radius.

  • Does that explain why I’ve not died from crows since putting perched crow on, or it some kind of placebo effect :blink:
