  • I see your WoW clone and raise with something new
The only “dynamic” about it is the rifts and that is all.

The good thing about the guild wars games is that I can play them as singleplayer games, then decide if I want to play them as MMOs.

  • you called my bluff

anyways guild wars 1 was really repetitive, I played it for about 2 weeks after i bought it

also the rifts remind me of Oblivion portals, only more detailed

  • So I did pre-order this, and I spent about four hours last night mucking about in the beta.

I really, really like it.  It’s what WoW should have been in various aspects, including hit detection.  I havent had a chance to do the PvP yet, but world Rifts behave just like you would hope, and are really neat.  The entire game has really good ‘flow’, and things that felt sticky or just wrong in World of Warcraft work better.  The questing bits are easier to navigate, the sound scheme is less annoying…

So far I’d recommend it to anybody underwhelmed  by world of warcraft. The graphics are less horribly fugly, too.  It’s kind of pretty , actually.

The combat also moves faster, though it does have difficulty to it.  You regenerate rapidly out of combat at lower levels, at least.  I’m enjoying it.

This is guild wars 2, not guild wars 1. Don’t judge this game because you thought guild wars 1 was shit.
It’s a whole new remake of the playstyle and storytelling, you can check out their wiki and their manifesto video at http://www.guildwars2.com/en/media/videos/ and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page

This game is wow with newer graphics and less polished. Hit detection? It’s auto targeted, hell it uses the same key that wow does to target. I don’t know what felt sticky about wow the game flows fine, the questing in wow isn’t hard and if you find it hard to navigate then you must be a complete retard considering theres a blue shitstain on your map telling you where to go and what to do, they practically hold your hand.

The game is basically wow copied and pasted with different graphics except the even the city designs look copied. The combat has little difference, the classes are almost carbon copies. Honestly it feels like a waste of time playing a game thats so similar and less polished with much less content.

  • guild wars 2 looks better

because WoW was the first MMORPG, right?

  • @Kenny:

    herp

wow with better graphics and content then?

  • @pandafallout:

Yeah but it’s dumb to judge a game because of its graphics, even thought I agree with you.

  • @JetBoom:

    More or less.

And the quest navigation I mean isn’t finding the location on the map, it’s clicking through dozens of npc menus.

The hit detection thing is kind of hard to explain.  It just feels more forgiving of the direction your character is facing.  Just play it to get a feel, I suppose.  Compared to WoW’s earlier levels, the beginning zones are a LOT more intense.  The rift area-raid events start in the first zone you’re in , and are difficult but doable for anyone leveling in that zone.

So basically, even from the beginning of the game, since you’re some reincarnated hero, you start off saving the people or your little starter zone from extraplanar invaders, and it ramps up from there.  Much better than collecting boar pelts so granny can make a blanket.

What I find really neat is that Rift events can have the challenge level of a dungeon / raid, while not taking up about eight hours.    I assume that they’ll proportionally become more difficult at higher levels, too.

I still don’t understand a few of the mechanics since I’m just starting to get into the real bulk of the game, but it’s succeeded in reviving my abusive love affair with MMOs.  Not sure if I’m making it clear what I like about it , but anybody who’s played/enjoyed these sorts of things should check it out.

  • People who’ve never played WoW shitting on WoW and people who’ve never played Rift shitting on Rift. Good thread.

  • When will they stop worrying about graphics and making games repetitive.

  • you mean like assassins creed? same shit, different toilet.
