  • meanwhile in Norway…

  • Because, if you’ve done a bit of digging, the current healthcare system of the US isn’t exactly fantastic.

  • The healthcare reform bill Obama just signed has caused many of the americans in the country to start having more insurance coverage then before. It also makes Medi-care spending cheaper. The only reason its bad Obama signed it is because its going to damage businesses and some workers because of tax increase. So mostly every one is right now paying attention to it because of those two major changes(even the liberals are getting worked up). Before americans had a pretty bad health care system.

  • I don’t expect a great deal from this. Hopefully the Republicans will stop crying ‘socialist’.

    More like, the profit of health care companies are insane, the profit of insurance companies are insane, and the profit goals of said companies dominate patient care to the point where preventative treatment isn’t in stockholders best short-term interest, where recision of coverage due to (at times) a previous unreported cough or erroneous paperwork.

    oh yeah and republicans have been pissing themselves over everything and have yet to vote yes on any demo bill since the election.  And have continuously tried to “talk” the bills down, basically going up to the podium and reading a phone book or whatnot, to filibuster any possible bill.

    and socialism is a bad thing you left leaning card-carrying pinko communist

  • Cold War.

  • For the most part, it’s not so much the taxes themselves as it is the fact you need to buy some form of health insurance or those said taxes get tacked on you.  Or so I heard.  I’m not quite up to speed on the entire thing so don’t count on what I said.

    Either way, this is a good thing for all of the people that don’t have insurance and can’t get any because of stupid prerequisites or self-employment.  Anything else is being blown out of proportion, really.

  • Meanwhile in sweden

    And taxes are a bad thing all of a sudden?
    more taxes means more money for the government which means better everything for everyone.

    And it solves deficits.

  • Pokemon’s health care is better than America’s

    by 2014 people that don’t have health insurance will be paying something like $700 a year? Good news is that more federal programs are going to expand to help people that just can’t afford it.

  • Gir, there are different systems of doing things around the world.  A lot of those values stem from every single one of our people being immigrants (except for native americans), pushing out into the new world full of danger.  Individual choice leads to individual reward or individual punishment.  Government and ‘community pot’ leads to no longer having a risk/reward model and giving someone, aka, the government, absolute power leads to absolute tyranny inevitably.

    Some things can’t be capitalistically based however, as they would be abused or the communal loss is too great.  Transportation, power, education, healthcare, some basic food items, and the lowest level of monetary support are things needed by all.  So they’re socialized.  People are fighting over whether or not healthcare should be capitalistic based or socialistic based more.  Personally I would want 90% of healthcare socialized, with incentives/reprimands/firing for doctors who attain higher/lower/horrible patient marks (reviews), and similar incentives for patients health/survivability compared to national average.

    The only non-socialized aspects would be care proven to not help or not make common sense to perform (lol wetnurse plz kthx), plastic surgury, and anyone who wants to open designer medical shops, with insane good amount of care for even more insane prices.

    oh yeah and who cares about the deficit anyway, china is buying our debt up still, but dumping there US dollar cash reserves.  net effect is pushing down the value of the dollar, the value of the debt we owe them, and the interest amounts.

  • Everything that is for the well being of the many can’t be trusted in the hands of corporations and should in my opinion be controlled by something that is controlled by the people (the government).
    Is sweden going to become a country ruled by tyrants now?

    To bad that the people have the absolute power since we decide who gets to govern.

  • The cycle of democracy goes as such.
    bondage to spiritual faith;
    from spiritual faith to great courage;
    from courage to liberty;
    from liberty to abundance;
    from abundance to selfishness;
    from selfishness to apathy;
    from apathy to dependence;
    from dependency back again into bondage.

    We do not need more socialism since we are already on the edge of dependency.

    The average life of a democracy is 250 years.

  • Look at communism. Still going strong. Dohoho.
