The only reason I can think of right now to keep turrets colliding is for a makeshift barricade, but I don’t really think this is a good reason since there are other deployables that they can be done with. Right now it’s the single most deployable that players constantly get stuck on. What doesn’t help is they are often placed within shooters at a cade, notably more so with the introduction of blast turrets. This often keeps the turret into an annoying ghost state. Removing collisions has also worked just fine with the Zapper which is an offensive tool, and I’m really just seeing a lot of potential advantages to having turrets have no player collision either.
