[ZS] Rework the Longarm



  • The Longarm is easily the shittiest weapon in the game. It’s a tier 4 that has the same potential damage of most starter weapons. (450 damage per resupply, on top of the fact that if you miss one of your 3 shots, you lose a third of your damage)
    Add that to the absolutely ridiculous kickback on the weapon, the terrible firerate it has, AND how you need 5 pistol ammo to fire one shot, it needs a rework or a massive buff.

    The amount of ammo you need to fire the longarm should be changed to 2-3, buff the fire rate, and reduce the terrible recoil by 90% (or hell, make the recoil do melee damage if something is too close to you when you fire it)

    It would be way more fun to rework it into something like a six shooter that fires fast and reloads fast, hits like what you’d expect a tier 4 pistol to hit like, and has slight recoil. Would fit the pistol theme much better, otherwise it’s just a shitty rifle pistol.

  • Make the recoil even worse to heighten the skill ceiling while buffing it in damage, accuracy, firerate, and ammo consumption.

    The recoil should be a skill-based soft cap on the dps since a more skilled player would land more shots and have more effective damage than an unskilled player.

    • Hard to profit with/inefficient (30 damage per 1 pistol ammo, which is generally lower than all Tier 2 pistols)

    • Not perfectly accurate in terms of a sniper pistol

    • Recoil is crazy (but can be ignored in third person lol)

    Hunter is easily the best sniping weapon at around these tiers, why would you not buy a Hunter instead. Even if you have a lot of pistol ammo the Long Arm isn’t useful - you might as well get an Eraser, it will make better use of it (it’s roughly as accurate, generally as efficient on average, and has much higher burst DPS).



  • The longarm is a weapon that must be used in 3rd person, to avoid the stupid viewpunch when you fire it in 1st person.
    It’s like a human equivalent of a leadpipe.

Even if you have a lot of pistol ammo the Long Arm isn’t useful - you might as well get an Eraser, it will make better use of it (it’s roughly as accurate, generally as efficient on average, and has much higher burst DPS).

    Maybe get rid of the recoil mechanic altogether then. Instead make it a midrange weapon meant for closer ranges than the Hunter, and differentiate it from the Annabelle (used for killing enemies around corners while camping in a cade) by making it a weapon more suitable for combat on the move. High rate of fire with high mobility and high dps, but keep some ammunition inefficiency to balance it.

For four times the cost in points. if you miss, you waste 250+ damage worth of pistol ammo.
