[ZS] Attack Drone



  • Added deployable: Drone. Similar controls as the manhack and all manhack skills work with it. Instead of melee attacks, the drone has two uses. The first is a weak SMG turret. Since it’s flying, this makes drones annoying for zombies that can’t reach them. The second use for a drone is a tow rope, which allows it to pick up and carry light props, dropped weapons and ammo, etc.

    Attack Drone

    This is an attack drone that attempts to meet the specification defined above.

    The first use of this drone is a primary fire attack, using left click, that uses SMG ammo every 0.15 seconds and deals 8 damage per shot. It’s limited in terms of it’s angle of fire, both in terms of yaw and pitch. It makes use of a targeting laser much like the gun turret does. Such a weapon on this drone must be extremely weak - in the hands of a skilled pilot, the drone is extremely hard to destroy. Pressing E on the drone will deposit 15 SMG ammo. If the drone is destroyed, it will eject half of it’s stored ammo.

    The secondary utility of the drone is to attach a tow rope to any light, unnailed prop, or weapons and ammo. This provides an extremely safe way for one to recover ammo and weapons from the safety of a barricade, and also reinforce it with small props. Pressing R will attempt to rope on to what the laser is facing at. If the object which is grappled is destroyed or taken, the rope will be ready to use again in 2 seconds.

    Pressing SHIFT will attempt to pack up the drone much like a turret.

    Other info:

    • It should be probably only available for points with a limited stock and a decent price tag.

    • It would be nice if “manhack” skills worked with it. Obviously I can’t implement this.

    • Targeting small objects with the drone to grapple can be annoying sometimes.

    • Code is based on the GitHub drone. Some portions of code are copied from gun turrets and the like.

  • Make the tracer for the aim position be cast from the camera position of the Drone instead from the position of the Drone itself, this way the beam will be aligned with the crosshair

    Also make it deal the same damage as the tosser, it’s too hard to aim already for it to be useful

    The drone is fine. It just needs quality changes to make it less annoying to use.



  • Should thirdperson really be inconsistent? Human thirdperson makes the player aim where the crosshair in the camera is aiming instead of the angle of the camera

    It would be way too strong if it did the same damage as the tosser. You do realise how hard drones are to damage and the ability for them to take down nests safely is extremely powerful.
