[RELEASE] zs_crookedhouse_v2



  • Hello, and welcome. i’d like to show you a map i made some time ago. I made it for a custom server, but the folks there didn’t care enough to give me an answer. Enough talking :D see the screenshots

    There isn’t much props on this map, you may be forced to bring more from the shed in front of the big house. I did that to prevent shitcades, however if you think there should be more of them, tell me :D

    This map is not very big, however i made sure there are decent (but not overpowered) places to make barricades.

    There are multiple ways to enter the house, i counted 7, so it might require good teamwork to prevent zombies from eating you back.

    At first, the map wasn’t supposed to be for zs, but maybe someone can have fun killing zombies on it. I would like to hear what you think about this.

  • The entire house should fall apart at the end of wave 6.



  • This is actually technically possible, i think i’ll add this at some point, i will contact Michael Bay to get the all the explosions i need.

    It might be a bit too small for this server but it’s quite querky (for a house map) so I’ve put it in to see what happens.

    And I’ve disabled it, can’t find the cause but some people are crashing. It’s most likely to do with the ridiculous skybox you’ve added.



  • I partly agree, the skybox is HUGE and i didnt want it to be empty. It needed to be very big
    , because the house is pretty high above the water, and small ocean looked really weird. ill remove the skybox and test it some more. I appreciate the input. Thanks for a honest answer ;)

    As a note, you could give fog a go. Just add some fog that is not too thick, but enough to cover most of what there is.



  • Don’t add excessive fog.  Don’t you fucking dare. Find a more creative way to present the sea. You can add a slight amount of “fog”  to blur and mask the horizon ,  but don’t make it ruin your map like most ZS mappers who seem to think the more fog the better.  Also it doesn’t need to be as empty and the colour of the sea needs to be similar to the colour of the sky,  currently it contrasts too much.



  • Well i found the problem, since i already used the same sky in my other objective map, i copied over entities from and accidentaly, i also copied logic_waves entity, which fired a few of broken inputs every time a wave started. Whoops. Anyway i shrinked the skybox greatly, removed the flat straight coast and added a v shaped now. Fps should be better now. I also added some rocks, which help zombies sneak up to the house. I will test it some more and upload fixed version in the evening. Ill experiment with the fog too. Thanks for answering ;)

    That is fixed too, i wanted a nice splatter effect when someone hits the ground, currently you will die in 5 seconds if you somehow survive the fall, and you get insta-killed in when you fall in water. I wonder how one feet deep water was saving you from 50 meter fall… Anyway thanks for pointing that out :D
