[ZS] A more noticable effect for "skycade protection damage"

  • There are some maps, like Wooden House in the Rain and Sector 4, where the usual barricade spots require you to barricade a ladder/hole. The height of the hole compared to the floor below it is usually large enough for skycade protection to kick in. Players who don’t know about that will tend to stand on top of those props, not recognizing the two sound effects that play (the “weight pressure” sound and the “prop taking damage” sound).

The two main issues are that both sound effects are usually too quiet to hear amongst the many guns firing/zombies attacking/players on mic, and that there is no accompanying visual effect that’s easy for newer players to understand. Right now when we barricade at those types of spots, players will stand on those props trying to shoot zombies and not notice that the prop they are standing on is taking damage. Those same players tend to ignore voice/text chat as the many players telling them to get off said prop fall on deaf ears.

  • Same thing on zs_cargo_freight, with the ladder cade required on the top floor of the watch tower.

  • humans should see flashing red outlines around props taking environmental damage (players standing on them etc). If nothing else the new outline will make them stop and ask the chat “why are props flashing?”

  • Maybe you could make peoples vision shake if they are standing on a prop and damaging it.

Not only it would indicate they are damaging a prop, it would also encourage them to to move somewhere else where they can actually shoot straight.
