ZS weapon rebalancing

  • The manhack currently does 15 damage per hit and 12 damage per hit on a boss due to damage reduction from the zombie infliction meter. Killing a normal zombie takes 14 hits, which is absurd considering the one must continually hit a (moving) zombie with arduous maneuvering. One must also consider time taken for manhack maintenance and costs for purchasing a manhack (45 points) and a mechanic’s wrench (25 points) assuming worth points were not used for a manhack loadout.

25 damage per hit seems adequate - 8 hits to kill normal zombie.

The stun baton and lead pipe are similar weapons, and both are each 45 worth. The only advantage of checking out the stun baton however is its rate of fire.

The stun baton should have an effect that causes the zombie’s screen to white temporarily or some other effect to match the lead pipe’s potency.

  • The Manhack is already enough of an annoyance and a craftable upgrade to it is inbound

Also the Pulse Pistol is pretty worthless from a game progression perspective since the only weapon you could upgrade to is the most expensive in the game, I had an idea that a 70/50 point Pulse gun could balance that huge gap a bit, maybe a Gauss Gun from HL2 Beta?

  • Stun Baton should stumble zombies and do less damage. It is an electric weapon and electricity like that will do little damage and make you fall down.

I was thinking of suggesting a gauss gun too.

The boomstick would make more sense as a 250 point weapon as it is the most powerful weapon in the game.

  • Boomstick is the most powerful weapon in the game, but it is offset by the amount of ammunition it uses, its spread as a shotgun, and long reloading time. Each of the tier 3 weapons has its own benefits. e.g. adonis => high dmg assault rifle, fast reload, very accurate, slow rate of fire

  • Manhacks are just an annoynace, you’re right, they’re practically completely insignificant to the zombie team because they’re either trying to get their airlegs wobbling all over the place or you get poked in the back for neglible damage, which can easily be healed if you just lie down for a second.

It makes no sense to purchase a manhack because of how potentially easy it is to destroy and of how few points someone can score with it, even if they get a lot of good hits in. The only way I can see it earning many points at all is if it gets stuck inside a crowd of zombies and starts bouncing around going nuts, but then one or more of the zombies are likely to hit it, sending it flying or destroying it.

I hope the upgraded version of it makes it a more progressive choice, instead of being stuck behind a barricade with a mechanic’s wrench scavenging for dropped starter weapons and ammo.

  • The best use for manhacks is killing pcrabs spitting into windows where shooting them would be impossible without taking damage.

  • Still, it’s a pain in the ass to hit a normal zombie, let alone a headcrab consistently.

  • Does anyone else think the Adonis’s on hit effect is huge and blocks your vision?

The manhack is fun to use, but turns the user really ineffective in doing much of anything aside from occasional headcrab repelling.

Craft manhack with stun baton, slows zombies.

  • Still only makes it marginally more effective/annoying, even if it does slow them mildly.

The speed at which you collide with a zombie should provide additional damage if it reaches a certain threshold.
