I doubt it can do any large calculations like crosswind ect. but the thing apparently does calculations for wind (at exit) and target distance, whether this corrects the lens accordingly is not mentioned.
The reason why RDJ thinks it’s a dumb idea, is because he’s the sort of person that reckons pulling even a hair or hairpin trigger is the same as a mouse click. At 300 metres (in video), and especially 1000 metres (which the gun being fired in the original video is capable of), a beginners level shooter usually can not stabilise his weapon enough to ensure he gets a dead accurate shot, especially first time. Any movement including positioning the finger from safe to shoot and pulling the trigger effects aim greatly at these distances… Holding the trigger so that it fires only when the reticule passes the tracked point eliminates the need for this skill.
